70 years old and still rocking…

Daevid Allen, founding member of Soft Machine and driving force behind Gong reached 70 earlier in January.

Thankfully he’s still going strong.

To celebrate here’s some footage of Daevid with Gong back in 1971:

I feel like I should have a cup of tea and commune with the Octave Doctors to celebrate.

A strange musical day

March 29th, 2007 tristan Posted in gong, kermit, music No Comments »

I’m having an interesting musical day today.
I rediscovered my love of Gong and have been listening to as much of the Radio Gnome Invisible series as have have at the moment (all except Part III (You)).

In honour of the Pot Head Pixies I’m also drinking lots of tea.

I’ve also just been directed to Sad Kermit. Kermit’s cover of Radiohead’s Creep is nothing short of inspired and his cover of Nine Inch Nails’ Hurt is second only to Johnny Cash’s cover.

After this I’m going to tune back into Radio Gnome Invisible and then probably see what Last.fm comes up with for me.
