Congratulations
To those Democratic representatives who listened to those they are meant to represent and opposed giving tax payer’s money to their corporate masters.
Perhaps this is a sign that the Democrats may move away from progressive corporatism to actually reflecting the interests of those they claim to represent rather than the interests of corporate power, although many are angling for a new deal which will see things like nationalisation of large swathes of the banking sector.
A bailout is not a solution, it is Wall Street trying to get its hands on tax payer’s money. If a system cannot survive without being bailed out then it should be allowed to die.

Excuse my pedantry but actually more Republican congressmen voted against the bill in the end. Which is interesting, as GOP governments have been as corporatist as Dems, haven’t they?

Oh, here’s the link.

True, but people expected republicans to vote against a bit more, its the Democrats who have surprised people since the Democrats have been champions of corporate welfare since the New Deal.
