Radical liberals
Just for clarification, what I consider to be radical liberalism is the tradition of the Levellers, Wilkes, Cobden and Bright.
It is in that tradition that I consider myself a radical, not in the more modern tradition of socialist radicals.
Whilst I go further than many of them in my desire for reform of the political system, and do not agitate as much as I might on those issues, I still consider myself to be within their tradition.

…which is an interesting point given the earlier posting about democracy and revoilution. There can be no doubt that, though perhaps the Diggers only made an ideological contribution, Cobden, through the National Liberal Land Company radically changed our democracy by the “back door”.
Can we find such a “back door” today I wonder?

I think most socialists also consider themselves to be within the same tradition of said radical liberals, but consider socialism(s) as a historically necessary development on that.
