Perhaps I can be saved however, because being a good liberal, I do support his right to say such idiotic things. Where would we be if he couldn’t say them? We might take him seriously!

Of course he has a right to say it - and in saying it he has reminded us just what an unpleasant and stupid lot the BNP are. We LibDems don’t need any such reminding, but this getting out will, I suspect put off a lot of people who were toying with a BNP vote. What a brilliant argument this is for free speech for the BNP and anyone else - let them speak and they will show us their true colours.
The funny thing is that on another day we’d probably find a BNP person telling us all rapists should be shot, or at least castrated.
