So much for the Democrat Senate
So, the Senate has voted to approve extended Spy powers.
Interestingly, but of little consequence now, it was the Republican’s under New Gingrich who blocked a similar move by President Clinton. A complete turn around from the Republicans now however.
As for the likely presidential candidates - McCain I absolutely do not trust on this, and Clinton is almost as untrustworthy in my view (she may have voted against (if she’d voted) for the Democrat grass roots, but in power I think she’s abuse her powers) . Obama for some reason (gut feeling really) I’m more likely to trust on this sort of issue, but he’s still a politician and happy to play with people’s lives for power…

The FISA immunity section was the only one that there was a even a hope of stopping, and only one of the two Democrats turned up. You can guess which, I’m sure.
The flip-flopping of parties is just broad tent politics taken to its extreme; but then, thats why they can manage the primary system I guess.
