An example of why I loathe Hilary Clinton
She is no liberal, even when you take into account ‘New Liberalism’. Her language is the language of a totalitarian. “There’s no such thing as other people’s children” she asserts - presumably the state should look after all children.
Trifling things like life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Throw them out of the window. The poor are incapable of that anyway. (Funny how the poorest in the world are considered ‘happy’ but relatively well off people in the west are somehow incapable of pursuing their own happiness…)

Problem is, there’s nowhere to turn really if you’re a British Lib Dem looking at American politics, where the word “liberal” itself means almost the diametric opposite of what it does in our own party. There are US politicians I like more than others, but the differences between the two political systems, and the two political cultures, make it hard to put your moral support behind either party, or any one candidate.
Having said that, for all her faults, I’d take Hilary over the current President any day …
