I liked Gordo's speech yesterday; having alleged that he realises that Whitehall doesn't know best, he then launched into a list of "..people want this - we will give to them, people want that - we will give it to them..." and so on. It was quite a long list. He seems to be modeling himself as a kind of modern Santa Claus figure.
