International Liberal News

It looks like Abdoulaye Wade, leader of the Liberal International member party, The Senegalese Democratic Party has won another term in the presidential elections in Senegal. He has claimed victory after the first round, but not all opposing candidates have conceded.
The elections have been pronounced free and transparent by independent observers. This offers a ray of hope for at least that part of Africa, I hope liberal policies can be pursued to set the country on a stable course towards less poverty.

Wade is 80 years old which puts claims that Ming is too old in perspective…

In more depressing news, Yabloko ELDR member and LI observer has been banned from taking part in the Russian elections, marking Russia’s further descent into anti-democratic, anti-liberal politics.
